Snowshoe Mountain is one of the biggest ski attractions in West Virginia. It is a popular tourist destination and has a host of various inns, resorts, and hotels. Making prior reservations is a great idea for anyone planning a trip there. Other than these said accommodations, there are also condos, ski resorts, and cabins that you can rent. The following are useful information regarding the Snowshoe hotels you can find there.

Locations and Neighborhoods

The Snowshoe hotels are located in six different geographical locations, which are also called neighborhoods. Each location or neighborhood has something different to offer. You should review each location and the accommodations you can find available there. The aforementioned locations or neighborhoods are Mountain Base, North Mountain, South Mountain, West Ridge Homes, Village Central, and Silver Creek.

Mountain Base Area

As the name implies, this neighborhood is located at the base of the mountain. Getting there will take 15 minutes from the mountain top. The accommodations you’ll find here will be provided by the Inn at Snowshoe. They mainly offer single and two bedroom units, food, and shopping. It is nevertheless a full service hotel complete with an indoor pool, front desk, complimentary breakfasts, gift shop, a restaurant and bar, exercise room, and a Jacuzzi.

North Mountain Area

You will find 11 Snowshoe hotels in this neighborhood. This location is near the Powderridge and Powdermonkey Lifts. You will find some of the best ski resorts in this section of the mountain. The hotels and accommodations available here include Camp Four Townhomes, Whistlepunk Townhomes, Powderidge Townhomes, Powdermonkey Townhomes, Stemwinder Townhomes, Land End Townhomes, Shamrock Condos, Sundown Hutches, Mountain Crest Condos, Pedestal House, and Ridgewood Condos.

Hotels and other accommodations here are rated from bronze to gold. For example, Camp Four Townhomes is gold rated while Land End Townhomes is bronze. On the other hand Shamrock Townhomes, Whistlepunk Townhomes, and Powderidge Townhomes are silver rated.

South Mountain Area

You will find seven Snowshoe hotels in this neighborhood. Most of the hotels you’ll find here are bronze rated like Treetop Townhomes, Wabasso Townhomes, Top of the World Condos, Leatherback Condos, and Snowcrest Condos. Timbers Townhomes is gold rated while Logger Run and Soaring Eagle Lodge are Platinum rated.

Silver Creek Area

This neighborhood area is located about one mile from the mountain top. There is a nearby ski area, Tubing Park, Mountaineer Terrain Park, and Kids World, which make this area quite ideal for families. There are only two accommodations here in this section, namely Creekside Townhomes, a silver rated hotel, and Silver Creek Lodge, a gold rated hotel.

Backcountry Hut

This is a ski lodge located about a couple of miles on Cheat Ridge. You’ll be treated to great dinners in a rustic cabin where all your needs will be catered to. You can reserve the hut for night lodging. However, the lodgings can only accommodate eight people. Inclusive within the fees are costs for lodging, breakfast, dinner, and transportation. Lodging fees are around a thousand dollars.

Village Central

As the name implies, this is the main section of Snowshoe Mountain. There are seven condo accommodations located here. Condos are either silver or gold rated and only one is platinum rated, Seneca Condos. Gold rated condos are Expedition Station, Highland House, and Rimfire Lodge. Silver rated accommodations are Summit and Mountain Lodge Condos.

Traveler Tips

It is best that you call the hotel you want to stay in. Sometimes the information you find on their websites or brochures may be outdated. Check whether a reservation is refundable or not. Be sure to understand the cancellation policies of the hotel you wish to stay in. As always, you should make your reservations as early as possible during the holidays. Expect Platinum and Gold rated hotels to have higher rates but better services and accommodations.
